Olive News - October 2005 Hey everyone and back to the old setup with Food, Markets and Music and as you can see we have dumped the Events page and assimilated it into the News which is archived back to 1999. Markets We are starting to get back into the swing of the weekly Growers Markets after a 4 month hiatus due to renovations and Tree Planting. Over the last 2-3 months we planted our own seedlings / propogations of Figs, Sour Cherries, Peaches, Nectarines plus the addition of Globe Artichokes, Asparagus, Raspberries, Loganberries and Thornless Blackberries. Just took delivery of 3 tonnes of Organic Topsoil mix the go with our new 2 tonne compost area for Spring Plantings. We might need a bobcat to move all this round. FOOD The new seasons olives are tasting fantastic and we have released Verdales and Sevillano Olives. This Sat 15 is the Mudgee Growers Market then next week is Bathurst and the Huge Local Govt Conference in Mudgee where we are doing 3 functions serving 1200 canapes and supplying 15 kilos of Fig and Olive Tapenade for a 800 pax dinner at Simon Gilbert Wines. MUSIC Have a very sad event to go to in 15 minutes. Fiona Harris my musical compatriot in Blue Valentine lost her Father last weekend after a long illness and the Funeral is 2 blocks away. Also my good friend and Product Manager Agnes Nordmann lost her niece in a car accident in Germany last week so it is a sad time for 2 of my best friends. I was in the studio at Sunpower in Mudgee last weekend doing some drumming for Robbin Binks, a local girl just coming out of her shell in the songwriting stakes. The "A" team of Dave [Guitar] Roger [Bass] and moi on drums did 6 tracks over the weekend and I was blown away with the songs and their tenderness and melody and Robbin's beautiful natural vibrato. Blue Valentine play at Eltons for a private function Sat Oct 22 and a few other things in the wind. Enjoy each day...as if it was your last. See ya round Richard Hey Everyone and welcome back.... Been a long time between updates and apart from Business changes, New Cabins opening and Broadband issues we are back up and online again. As stated above we now have 3 cabins available sleeping up to 16 people. The months of April / May / June / July were frantic with trying to get the existing homestead up and running. Paint jobs, Renovating and Maintenance have been done and we have been flat out now with Accomodation for the last month or two. Consequently we have had to cut back on Growers Markets and Farmgate Sales until we can find the time. Look to be back at Orange / Bathurst / Blackheath Growers Markets in October and the Orange National Field Days in October as well. There is still a lot of photos and updates to do to the website but with the help of our trusty "Galloping Gourmet / Musical Deity " Cletis Carr we should be able to update all the pages over the next few weeks. This weekend sees us doing "Go Grazing" as part of the Mudgee Wine Festival and we are matching with 5 Corners Wines.... 1] Venison Rillettes on Wood Fired Sourdough with Salsa Verde to be matched with their 2003 Reserve Shiraz. 2] Quince and Vanilla Mascarpone Tartlets to be matched with their 2002 Traminer ReislingWe have released a whole heap of new Season Olives and are planning Cooking and Gardening Classes starting in Feb 2006. The Degustation is going well and expect a whole page devoted to Menu options coming soon. See ya round Rich. Sept 2005
